Freshly pressed – what does that mean?

The term ‘freshly squeezed’ is usually used for juice that is squeezed and then packed in consumer packaging directly, usually without any treatment, and sold shortly afterwards. Herrljunga Musteri is a freshly pressed juice, slightly pasteurized, but without any additives. A freshly squeezed juice has a shorter shelf life than standard juice. The pressing date should be indicated on the packaging.

Not freshly pressed juice is juice where the moisture is pressed when fresh and then transported in tanks to producers. Thus, unlike juice concentrates, it is juice in its ‘original’ form that is handled. It can then take varying amounts of time to reach the trade. The juice is treated to have a much longer shelf life than the freshly squeezed juice.
